Androgenic Alopecia (ADA) is the most common type of Hair Loss for both men and women. Male pattern hair loss (MPHL) is characterised by a “M” pattern alopecia with frontoparietal recession of the hair line. Whereas Female pattern hair loss (FPHL) has a “Cone” like or “Christmas Tree” pattern of baldness, leading to a “WIDENED PART” of the scalp hair. The cause of ADA is Miniaturization of hair follicles due to androgens like DHT present the scalp.

Medical Treatment of ADA is MINOXIDIL and 5alpha- reductase inhibitors. If medical treatment fails to stop hair loss ( greater than 100hairs/day ) PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy can be commenced. PRP contains many GROWTH FACTORS, that can stimulate the stem cells present in the “BULGE” of the Hair Root. As PRP is prepared from your own blood it has no side effects. The entire process takes about 1 hour.

ALOPECIA AREATA( AA): There are round or oval patches of Hair Loss on the scalp, with ! mark hair on the periphery. AA is an autoimmune condition , that affects the younger population. Spontaneous resolution occurs within 1 year, however the recovery can be hastened by Steroids and Immunotherapy.
